song: "Heaven Or" — Corey Flood

More than a year after releasing their debut EP and Corey Flood has returned, sharing a new single from the band’s first full-length. On September 4, the trio will release Hanging Garden through Fire Talk records, and ahead of that, they’re sharing the album’s lead single, “Heaven Or.”

Its breezy nature is a perfect reintroduction to the world of Corey Flood, and beneath its repeated refrains of assurance — “I know what I saw” — and acknowledging that despite it all, one will land on their feet, is one member’s deeply personal experience.

Ivy Grace Klein explained it further in a press release, saying, “There was a period when I was disassociating a lot and just felt so numb and passive to everything happening around me. To try and counteract this I experimented with reckless choices just to try and feel something or "wake myself up,"which was really at odds with my natural inclination towards caution..”

This experience of teetering on the edge of reckless is reflected in the song’s push and pull nature. For despite how casual it all seems at this single’s surface, there’s a striking dose of emotional sincerity that’s eager to connect with listeners, further pulling them into the softness.
