Guest Mix: Hollaback Pittsburgh

Today I’m so very pleased to have the ladies [Heather Dougherty, Maggie Graham, Akirah Robinson and Alison Winters] behind the Pittsburgh Hollaback chapter curate a Guest Mix for us. Before we dive into what is probably our most empowering mix yet here’s a little information on the important work this organization is doing in the ‘Burgh.

“Daaaaamn girl, you healthy!”

Ugh. Catcalls are the worst thing to hear when you’re on your way to work in the morning, or getting off the bus after a long day at school. It’s gross, it makes the victim feel like an object and, worst of all, it makes the streets feel unsafe. Hollaback! is an international movement looking to make the streets safer for everyone by ending street harassment. This playlist is full of songs meant to empower and remind women (and LGBTQ folks, or anyone who is the victim of street harassment) to fight back again harassment and hollaback!

Hollaback! Pittsburgh launched in 2013. For more info, visit our website, like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter. If you’ve been harassed, you can share your story here.
